Easily sidetracked from your meat quest, (and from anything, really) suddenly an idea sparks in you to create a particle accelerator! You absolutely must do this, there is no way around it. You're pretty confident you know how to make one--I mean, who doesn't? ...but you're going to need to draw up some blueprints.
If only you had some chalky stone laying around. You're pretty sure you had some before, but clearly it's not inside your cave. Maybe you left it outside?
